My dad and I like to wade fish rivers for bronze-backs. Before I was seriously into fishing I just took the one pole I had. Now however I have several set ups to choose from and I’m not sure sure which one to use.
Of these options which one would you suggest?
6′6 medium heavy bait casting with 8 pound monofilament
6′6 medium action spinning with 10 pound fluorocarbon
Buy a new rod and reel specifically for wading for smallies
I do have 2 other set ups, but they are out of the question because they are heavy action with heavy test braids.
I am leaning toward the baitcasting because I don’t want flouro due to the fact that I may use top waters. Yet at the same time even though I have confidence in my skills on the casting reel, it may be hassle-full to deal with a backlash while in the water. I have some cash so I wouldn’t have a problem buying some new stuff if I don’t have anything well suited for wade fishing.

i collect old and antique fishing equipment. i have had a certain rod for some time now and i haven’t found out what type of rod this is. ok here is a general description.
if someone out there might collect fishing equipment too, do you think this thing might be worth something. i am not too bg into selling my collection but it would be interesting to know if it is worth more than i payed for it ($10.00)
the rod is
1-about 8′ long
2-from the bottom of the rod it is tightly wound with braided rope going up about 2-2 1/2 feet
3-there isn’t a place on the rod for a reel to be mounted
4-there are 4 or 5 eyelets for line to be run through.
now here is the weird thing for me
5-the whole rod from bottom to top is covered in thick wax
i am wanting to think that is a old saltwater rod but i am not sure. i bought it from a guy at a flea market to put in my “fishing room” . that room is there for me to get away from life when i don’t have the opportunity to go fishing. if anyone has an idea about what it is could you drop me a line. thanks good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

We stay at a campground just above ocean isle beach and launch his boat into the intercoastal waterway to. In reality all we are doing is going on a boat ride because we hardly ever catch anything. I’m not really looking for any specific type of fish however I would like information from anyone that has any type of help to offer. We usually fish the area between holden beach and the ocean isle bridge. I would like to know what kind of rig(weight size, hook type and size also) to use, what type of bait, for different fish. I feel like I’ve wasted my money I recently bought about 150$$$ worth of tackle included all of the following:
8lb power_pro braided line
20lb Seaguar flourocarbon leader
an inshore soft plastics kit from bass pro
a speck trout and redfish soft plasics kit
and a d.o.a. shrimp soft plastics kit with dvd

Hi,
I recently bought a Okuma convector CV-45D rounded bait-casting reel and I haven’t bought a rod for it yet. I’m thinking of getting a heavy rod that can hold 20-60lbs mono or braided lines.
My questions is: Those rods with AFTCO roller guides, I know that they are good for your braided lines for these type of test lines can break your line guides through frictions. Will someone please help me explain what’s the advantage or dis-advantage of having a fishing rod with AFTCO roller guides and what type of fishing I can do with those rods? I want something I can use for short distance casting and trolling and can hold 2lbs sinker too for Pier STILL fishing.
Thanks

i need some insight on fishing at whiskeytown lake in north state, CALIF. im use to fishing in ‘the delta’ and cant get used to the crystal clear waters of whiskeytown. the other source of my frusteration is not having a boat. is there any tips for sucess you can share about fishing off the banks of whiskeytown or other clear *** waters? what line is best? is there a kind of braided line that is suited for clear water? A couple more of my frusterations are: they dont let you use live bait, its hard to reach deep water while fishing from the bank, and the water is freakin cold so the bass dont hardly become aggresive. the temperature warms up in the summer at like the top 3 ft of the surface. I’d like tips on bass fishing with bait, bass fishing with lures in shallow, and summer trout fishing in shallow.
