Bass Fishing, Is Braided Line Better Than Mono? Why?

4

Braided line is stronger and much thinner in diamater than mono. So 15lb. braid would have the diamater of 4lb. mono. Braid line will slip on your reel spool though and you won’t be able to spool up ubless you tape your spool first with masking tape, or you first put on a layer of mono and use braid as a long leader. Buy a small amount of braid to experiment and see if you like it but tie it on as a leader because braided line can be pretty expensive. Be sure to get a lb. test that is higher than you think you need because otherwise the diamater might be too thin. Have fun experimenting.

baraided is just more stronger and lessen the chances of over-run.i would prefer you use normal lines.bass arent much much of a a problem as they arent heavy.

All depends on the water, hows the layout of the lake your fishing. I would get familar with it before I start switching up lines, different lakes and rivers you can adjust the line by the color or the temp of the water.
All I use when I Bass fish is Stren, I have tryed to Braided several times but I don’t like the way it feels and it takes to much time to tie it besides just looping a couple times.

i have used both. while braided may be stronger, i still would go with the mono. the braided is much more visible in the water, and thats the last thing you want to have. if you are worried about the strength of the mono, just get a high test lb. line.

I’m pretty sure braided line is better for fish like trout that don’t really see the line.
