Hey my Lone Star Brother, it sounds like you already know how to use braid (since you have 2 rigs with it already) so I would go with it. all but 2 of my rigs have braid on it and those are for cristal clear water lakes, lake Dallas is murky enough not to worry about it. but here is what I would do. use a double uni knot to add about 3′-4′ of clear mono to the end of your braided line, this way you have the power of braid but the clarity of mono so you don’t spook the fish.

I use to use spiderwire when it first came out, but went back to mono because when you are down here fishing T-Bend you get hung up alot. It was alot harder to get my bait back with that no stretch line, and if you would get a bad backlash it was very hard to get out. I do like the feel of braided line, and it has come a long way since then. There are wonderful brands of braided line out there now, but there are also better mono lines out there now too. I’ll stick with mono.

Chris has it dead on the money!
Use braid and tie a “Blood” knot for a leader of “Vanish”, (or some type of fluorocarbon leader material).
This works SUPER well , except , check your knot occasionally for “slippage” or “fraying”.
Do realize that braid is good for just about all types of Bass fishing/general fishing EXCEPT: top-water, and trolling.
You need a bit of “stretch” for trolling or throwing a top-water plug. And be careful you don’t get an “unsnag-able snag” with your new $20 fishing line! Or it’s “Bye Bye” Line!

if you are fresh water fishing with a spinning reel probably going for bass, I would suggest 8 to 10 lb test mono-filament, your basic stren or trilene, don’t fall for those large spools of generic mono……spend the money get some thing good……
when you have started to catch more fish…………then move up to spiderwire or the likes of that(very little stretch, takes a little getting used to…..)

I always used braided line,spiderwire to be specific for mainly every type of fishing but for lure fishing I would preffer mono line. It, in a way helps the lure make it more “life like”.
