I use power pro, spider wire, and calcutta brands on all my curados. No problem whatsoever.

Not really not anymore the newer braids these days are made so they don’t hurt your gear but the older ones used to really do a number on gear i don’t know if there is any out there yet that does that.
And most new reels will have resistant materials on it now because of the older braids that used to damage reels.
And for connecting your braid some like Power pro have a sticker type of thing you put on spool before tying the braid on so your line doesn’t twist on the spool that stuff is slick also some put a heavy monfilament piece on the reel and then connect it with the braid so it doesn’t twist on spool.

I agree with everyone else. You should be fine using braid on your Shimano if:
    - it’s not a low priced AX version- The Shimano AX (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000L9GGW6/ref=… is one of the worst reels of all time. Adding heavy duty braid to it would shorten the “life-span”.
Any other Shimano reel should be fine with braid.
MAKE sure to use a Mono/Fluro leader with your Braid. If you don’t & get a snag it WON’T easily break- making you have to cut your expensive braid!
    Hope this helps?

    iTz moleman,
As long as it’s a bait-casting reel or a spinning reel, I’m sure the reel will be fine. Spin-casting reels (excluding the Zebco Omega) will not handle these “super-lines”, so your reel won’t last too long.

Nope your Shimano should be fine. I use a old round Bass Pro Shops Extreme bait casting reel as my pitching and flipping reel and it had 35lb test braid on it.
