From Your Experience, What Is The Best Fishing Line?
I prefer Suffix brand, usually 8lb test in the smoke color on my spinning rig. On my baitcaster I have performance braid in 30lb test in green. I need details, not just a name. I am curious to find what the group favorite is. And if you use cheap line like store brand, don’t bother answering this.

BASS FISHERMAN – I assume by your name that you fish for bass. Since there are so many different types of presentations for bass, your question has multiple answers. It all depends on what you’re doing.
When I’m flipping a jig, I’m using 25lb berkley big game – incredibly strong to get me through all the junk I’m flipping into yet very low memory so the line isn’t all coiled up while I’m bouncing a jig in front of ol’ bucketmouth’s face.
If I’m throwing a spinnerbait or a crankbait, I’ll step down to 12lb P-line. Insanely strong w/ higher memory, but w/ the resistance of the spinnerbait, the line is straight in the water and the coils are vitrually nonexistent.
On a texas rig, I’ll use 12lb. suffix elite in the smoke color because it’s nearly invisible under the water and I’m gonna have that soft plastic on a bed for 3-5 minutes at a time.
For my carolina rigs, I’ll throw on a 30lb supermono by Spiderwire. Strong, low diameter, it’s perfect for a carolina rig because you’re after bass, but you could always hook up to something else.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
I love red cajun, on my bass rods. The increase in caught fish has doubled since I started using it. I use a 7′ rod and a pfluger bait casting reel, and 15 lb test Red Cajun. I have yet to lose a fish
red cajun line in a 8 lb. weight for light tackle spinning reel
and spider wire tough line in a 40 lb. weight on my
catfish pole (spinning reel)
tight lines and good fishing
I prefer Trilene XL 6lb on my Ultra-light. I’ve caught some monsters on it. Trilene Big Game for light salt water.
Spinning rod I use Fireline by Berkley. I’ve caught bass, Walleyes, Pike, Peacocks, Tarpon, Jacks, even 35lbs wahoo. The stuff is great. For fresh I use 6 lb diameter 12lb test and in salt I use 12lb diameter with 30lb test.
Baitcasters, I use Spider wire w/ a 5ft Fluorocarbon leader. I found that it gives a more stealthy presentation. Normally I use 30lb test. I also put a backing of mono on it. Saves a little bit of money in the end.
Deep Sea, strictly Suffix superior in Hi-Vis Yellow. Bimini with a 6 ft leader of 100lb Fluoro. Lets you see the line when your putting out the Outriggers and see if you crossed on the turns.
I prefer Trilene XT Low Viz Green in the 8lb test I use it all the time. No problems with it
I`m from the south, and would have to say STREN,or SPIDERWIRE.
It all depends on what fish you are after. IF it’s anything bigger than, say 10 pounds, go with one of the new super lines. Power Pro is my favourite. Never again do you have to worry about a fish breaking off. It’s zero-stretch properties mean each bite is transmitted rg=ight to the rod tip and each hook set transfers all the hooking power right to the hook point.
It costs more, but can last you years.
