Good Site For Buying Reasonably Priced Fishing Tackle?
I am taking up angling again and there’s so many different sites I wondered if anybody has experience of one I might use. I am after a 7ft spinning rod and reel and a 9-10ft fly rod and reel and all other tackle items as I am starting again. Finally is the internet going to be cheaper than using Argos or a local tackle shop for example. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hi there for the spinning rod try http://www.lathams-fishing.co.uk they have a lot of cheap but good quality rods here i got mines from here and was very pleased. And for the fly rod try http://www.fmtc.co.uk i bought the greys grxi outfit from here for an amazing price well worth a look
hope this helps.
try ………glasgow angling centre………google search
or………..www.yga.yorks.com
both of these are the cheapest around and sell branded names at cheaper prices.
beware of the internet cowboys that sell discounted rigs etc.
yes they are cheaper but the knots are sometimes suspect and the lines are old stuff that are rotten.
i,m not knocking e-bay as i buy a hell of a lot of fishing gear from there but there are some traders who will happily take your money and once your gear is in the water you don,t know why the line has snapped!.
yes knots are the weakest point but its trial and error as to who sells the most worthwhile gear.
i,ve learned the hard way and found that the cheapest is,nt always cost efficient.
if in doubt use the dealers advertised in the fishing mags. they may not be as cheap as the internet but they are reputable otherwise they would be binned.
Easily Ebay, managed to grab £100+ worth of lures the other day for just £15. Best bet is to go to the fishing directory and search the whole thing. Look out for badly named items which people might miss or ones with spelling mistakes. These ones won’t show up in people’s searches and far less people will be bidding. (“Shakespare rod” won’t show up if someone searches “Shakespeare rod”.)
The Internet will be cheaper yes, there are various places to buy gear in the UK, try these siteshttp://www.fmtc.co.uk/http://www.fishtec.co.uk/
Check out your local tackle stores as often they may reduce the amount of an item if you’re buying a full set up. And often they can be cheaper than the Internet as-well as providing you with lots of information on you’re local places to fish.
The best thing to do is find a rod you like and look for the same rod on eBay. You’ll save a ton of money that way. I’ve bought at least a dozen rods on eBay over the past ten years and have paid half for them what I would have paid at a tackle shop.
There are also a number of eweb stores on eBay that have good stuff cheap. It’s definitely worth it to check them out.
DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT go to Argos. The gear in there is absolute rubbish.
Try Bennetts of Sheffield, they are very good for helping people choose the correct equipment on a budget and won’t fob you off.http://www.bosfish.co.uk/
Forget Ebay the people on there are after your cash and don’t care what they sell you.
I prefer to give my cash to a good local tackle shop that’s not over priced…when I can.
Other than that….besides specialty stuff….I’d to with Cabela’s or Basspro
There are three great websites I would recommend:
http://www.ebay.com
Scroll Down please…

And of course

- STB
your better off going to a local tackle shop or reading reviews in angling mags, only try the Internet as a last option. abu make good spinning rods and for your fly gear go for diawa
Have you tried aldi or lidls – I am sure I seen in the paper one of them had them on offer. Even try Ebay – you never know.
Ebay…no doubt about it
best ask your mates to let you try, then work from there
