What is the difference in using a specially made fluorocarbon leader line vs. using a regular fluorocarbon line?

I don’t use a leader unless the fish have a tendency to cut your line like sturgeon or barracuda, then I use a steel leader. If you use braided line make sure you have hardened eyelets because some of the older poles had brass or aluminum eyelets that the braided line will cut grooves into them which in turn will cut your line when you hook a big or hard fighting fish. I’ve had great luck fishing 10 lb spider wire with no leader. Unless you are fly fishing , leaders are pretty much unnecessary in fresh water and are just another way for bait shops to sell you another useless item that ensures their early retirement and vacation home purchase. hey man, the mono rigs that you can buy are nothing but mono that you can buy on a spool at your local bait and tackle shop. you can make hat ever length leader you want. hope that helps you out a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

when i fish for sturgeon i just use braid as my leader, it kinda has a tendancy to be too free and tangle itself up but i just dont want to buy a leader and braid is ebrassion resistant anyways.

It’s basically the same line, it’s just that one of them is pre-made and will cost more
