Using Braided Fishing Line?
i have a g. loomis glx or i think imx baitcasting rod and im finally going to get a baitcasting reel for it and i was wondering what pound test of braid is good for bass and how do i no if the braid wont cut grooves into my rod guides and wat color braid should i buy… the waters i fish is moderate to stained and sometimes clear

Color is up to you. Most people prefer the green lines, mainly because it’s not the yellow or orange options. I use green.
Depending on what application you are using the braid for, it will predetermine your lb-test that you’ll want to use. That’s too difficult to tell you without more info.
As for the grooving of the guides, that’s also a hard one to answer without more info. The older Loomis rods are going to carry Alconite guides one the IMX and some of the GLX models. Otherwise, the rest of the older GLX’s had a mix of guides, but mainly came with SiC’s. Both are MORE than enough to stand up to today’s braids. The new IMX’s also come with Alconites, and are fine for braid. The GLX’s however, are a different story. The RECOIL guides SUCK in my opinion. They WILL grove and are horrible for braid. The SiC’s on the rest of the GLX’s are fine.
Unless you are fishing heavy cover or after some really big bass I would stick with mono or flourocarbon. If the water is very clear and your not fishing cover then you will miss alot of bites when the bass see your braid. If your dead set on braid then go with 30lb test. it is the diameter of 8lb test mono and casts great but it is easier for the bass to see. get the moss green color but your still gonna want to use a flourocarbon leader. It has nearly the same light refracting qualities of light and that makes it nearly invisible underwater. Connect the flouro to your main line with a uni knot. You can google it for an illistration on how to tie it. I would go with a 5 foot leader of 20 lb flourocarbon id your gonna go with braided mainline because you don’t want the leader to be more than 3 times the diameter of the main line. Keep in mind that braided line floats. I use braid for topwater and flippin heavy cover but I use mono and flourocarbon for everything else. Flourocarbon has low stretch, is very abrasion resistant, and it sinks. Unless your water is really clear then You should be good with 17lb mono or flouro. My favorite is stren mono and seagar flourocarbon but thats just personal preference. Hope this helps!
Caunltd gets my vote, (thumbs up).
Generally, most Bass fishermen are using 6/20 or 8/30 braid line for anything but Flippin heavy cover. For heavy cover try the 10/40. Understand that all the lines, (Mono, Fluro & Braid), each have a place & time that they will work “the best”.
Line Q are strictly a “preference” issue that you will have to decide for yourself.
Thumbs up to C. Good luck.
If the guides have aluminum or some other type of metal inserts than they wont work well with braid and you will feel roughness when you retreive.
Usually ceramic inserts will have a smoother retreive with braid. Moss green power pro should work fine.
