What Are The Difference Between Braided Line And Flurocarbon For Bass Fishing? Pros And Cons?

2

Fluorocarbon is a type of nylon line that appears more invisible underwater than other lines, and it sinks. Fluorocarbons can be hard to cast with in small spinning reel outfits, but are very effective for finicky fish. Braided lines are effective because they have a better strength/line diameter comparison. You can fish a smaller diameter line and still have the same the same strength as a mono of a bigger size. This can lead to burying the line in the spool when setting the hook, and eventually backlash. But this can be avoided by setting the drag lower. Also braided line doesn’t stretch near as much as fluorocarbon line. Both lines are more abrasion resistant than monofilament, and typically last longer.

Fluro is mostly clear and is almost invisible under water. Floro is very sensitive to the point you can feel the difference between rock or mud bottom. Fluro also sinks as where mono line has floating properties. One con I have with floro is that it is rigid and can jump off a spinning reel spool if you over load it. I do use Berkley 100% Flurocarbon 12lb test and very happy with it. Braid is just as the name implies and is very strong. Braid has no stretch to it, nor does fluro as I should have mentioned above. One big con about braid is that it is visible under water and I only use in heavy cover where I can rip my bait free. I use Magibraid 30lb test. Hope that helps

You already have 2 really good answers and I know from experience that braided line work really well in tough areas it doesn’t stretch and you can really horse a fish out of heavy cover with it.
