What Have You Done To Make Your Fishing Gear Work Better For You?

8

l have used new methods and newer versions of older methods. developed a couple of my own.
l constantly try a new style of hook or a new bait/lure. l have used a dozen different brands of line in the last dozen years and think l have settled on one or two.
anything l can do to increase my catch makes my gear work better for me.

I religiously maintain my fishing gear even down to the hooks on the lures. As for the reels, I change out the bearings every 6 months and change the drag washers at the same time. When all that is said and done, I turn golf clubs into fish de-hookers, gaffs, walking sticks and use the weighted parts as weights during my spare time. ; ) ~good luck catchin’.

I have put lines on my rods at 18″, 22″ and 26″ to be able to measure trout easily so I can release them quicker and handle them less, takes all the lies and wondering just how big out of fish pic’s. I just lay the rod next to them and snap a pic…..

Oiling it, cleaning it, re spooling it each year, keeping it in a safe place, and just overall fixing what is messed up.
    Happy fishing.

So far, this year, I have not stomped on it after a bad day of fishing.
Other wise, I am testing vending machine minnows. And I am testing some of my artificial baits.
    What about you?

Most of my reels have 2 spools. I have fireline on one spool and mono on the other. It gives me one more option.
