The best fluorocarbon line I’ve used is called “Vanish” By Berkley.
It is 100% invisible underwater, very strong, smooth casting and never tangles on me.
I only use 6-8 pound test and have landed 15lb salmon and 10lb trout on it with no problem and these fish are fierce fighters. As long as your drag is set properly you will have no problems. The invisibility of this line is unequaled. I’ve caught fish when no one else is simply because the fish cannot see the line, which is especially important if you are fishing highly pressured fisheries.
I’m not sure if they sell it in the UK but if they do I highly recommend it!! Good Luck!!
Personally i wouldn’t use fluorocarbon as a mainline. Although it is virtually invisible in water it is not very flexible and very expensive. Use it as a hook-length material by all means, but use an ordinary monofilament as a mainline. There are lots to choose from, including Berkley, Daiwa and Fox. Personally I use brown Maxima Chameleon. You will find some people who say they hate it, but I think it’s just fine.
…and by the way, what size are these carp? That’s a really high breaking strain you are talking about. High breaking strain indicates greater line thickness and I always find that the lighter I go the more success I have. For most commercial carp fisheries,in the UK with carp up to 20 lbs (and a decent, not overly stiff rod) 8lb mainline has never given me trouble.
hi there, i have used 2 lines for my carping in the last 6 years, i got x-line fluro when it first came out and i was very impressed, it sinks like a brick i dont ever need to use a backlead and has very little stretch i even managed to snap a nash hooligun 2.5 tc with the 20lb version when i overcast into a tree!!! the only problem with it was line frap due to its memory but they have now solved this problem and it is alot softer. this is the best line ive ever used and i will only use my other line korda adrena-line if i have to cast over 150+yards and i cant use braid check out x-line u will not be dissapointed, hope this helps n tight lines.
Cajun Line “Red lightnin”.
Especially for reel stripping, pole snapping in half grass carp. They can be pretty damn fierce.http://www.cajunline.com/lightnin.html
Adrena-Line , as used by Danny Fairbrass of Korda Tackle, check it out in your local tackle shop.
