What Lb Fishing Line Will Do The Job?

6

Before the invention of “Kevlar-based” fishing lines I ,personally, would have many different diameter /# on my various fishing rods.
Now that Kevlar-lines are a reality, most of my fishing poles are spooled with either Berkley 4/10 or Stren Super Braid. (I don’t mid-deep water “crank” or “top-water” with braid.) I have never had an issue with these lines other than if they got “hung-up” and I had to cut the line.
Am I taking crazy pills? Why would anyone NOT want to fish with braid,(other than trolling, deep-cranking, & topwater)? Heck, I’ve even made fly-fishing “tippet’s” with B. Fireline that work GREAT!
I’m surprised the “mono” company’s have even managed to stay OPEN!
So, If you could ONLY fish with 1 type of line what LB would it be? And would you choose Braid or Mono?

I hear what your saying man but my town is like a damn city and this is really the only spot within 10-15 miles that is very easily accessible to fish…these fish have seen small rapalas, large rapalas, worms, every plastic worm you could imagine, crankbaits, hundreds of spinnerbaits, spinners, and a lot more. this spot if completely fished out. I wouldn’t even see someone like you catching a fish there. there are like pro’s that come here and get jack squat. that just proves how damn overfished it is. oh yeah and there is one branch where 7 bobbers and a plastic worm got stuck….AND THATS JUST 1 TREE!

I would have to go with 6/14 fireline. It has the nice small diameter for low visibility and plenty of strength. Even though its rated at 14 lbs, I know for a fact it will hold a lot more than that.

I have one bait casting reel with Fire line.
All of my other bait casters (13) have Vicious Copolymer Clear Blue, or Sunline Siglon Tough Copolymer line on.
One spinning reel has Fire line, my other 3 have Sunline Shooter Copolymer line.
I use my braided outfits for C rigs or Drop shot.
If I hang up I want some chance of getting what ever I got hung up back LOL, and NOT have to take the time to cut my line. I also have a harder time with braid telling the difference between when the weight hits the bottom and when a fish has hit the bait…..had to buy a special set of pliers Called D-Barb,( http://www.dbarb.com/ ) due to gut hooking so many fish when using braid, and they are handy to have around as well.
I don’t know, maybe its my old age and I am loosing my feelings in my hands..LMAO. And yes I have good quality rods with good sensitivity.

My favorite line is the Berkley Trilene XL. I never get any tangles or knots in my line. I always have trouble with spider wire for some reason.
