Wouldnt It Be Better To Use A Mono Leader With Braided Line Because Its Harder For The Fish To See?

I am bass fishing and starting to throw frogs. I have never used braid before. Wouldnt braid be too dark or thick? Wouldnt the fish see it better than a mono leader?

This is a matter of each anglers own opinion, personally i like to use a fluorocarbon leader on my braid and then attach my lure/rig, but there are lots of anglers out there who just prefer to tie the lure straight onto the braid, just try both combinations and see which works best for you and then stick with it.

yes i know from personal experience that braided although strong is highly visible i just stick to monofilament

Typically, yes. There are other reasons mono leaders are used in conjunction with braid.
The thickness is not an issue because braid is engineered to be very thin compared to mono in the same lb test. For example, 65lb braid is about the same thickness as 16-18lb mono. That’s a huge difference. However, it’s not going to refract light well, and there’s what makes the difference. Flourocarbon is made to have a similar light absorbtion and refraction response as water, therefore it will “disappear” the best out of any type of line. Mono would be next, given it’s single strand construction and semi-transparency. Then braid.
Many, probably safe to say MOST, people prefer to use a mono/flouro leader when fishing braid. It acts like a shock leader and it lends itself well to being less visable.

Depends on the particular situation your fishing in, but In many situations yes. I’v gone fishing before and been The only person not using mono and didn’t catch a thing. The Idea behind braid is that It outshines mono in ways like diameter and that it doesn’t take on ice when in cold weather. Where the line really shines is in murky water or during a reaction strike

trust me you dont want to use a leader throwing frogs. frogs/toads are reaction bite useually fished in pads or heavy grass. the fish that bite dont even see the lure as well as the line. also when fishing in heavy cover you will have to set hooks very hard. by adding a leader will only cost you fish when the leader and or knots break.

I use a fluoro leader and yes it is stealthier….
