I am bass fishing and starting to throw frogs. I have never used braid before. Wouldnt braid be too dark or thick? Wouldnt the fish see it better than a mono leader?
Braided line is stronger and much thinner in diamater than mono. So 15lb. braid would have the diamater of 4lb. mono. Braid line will slip on your reel spool though and you won’t be able to spool up ubless you tape your spool first with masking tape, or you first put on a layer of mono and use braid as a long leader. Buy a small amount of braid to experiment and see if you like it but tie it on as a leader because braided line can be pretty expensive. Be sure to get a lb. test that is higher than you think you need because otherwise the diamater might be too thin. Have fun experimenting.
I fish in lake Ontario and the Erie canal. Spiderwire or super braid? And what kind of spoogles work best with using lures?
Which would be less likely to crack with age from the sunshine and the rain? Monofiliment or braided fishing line? Which would be more durable and why?
casting into heavy slop from distance (30 ft. or so). Braid or heavy fluorocarbon. I have had problems in the past with wind knots while casting with braid, so I bought some 25 lb. fluoro. Is it practical to use fluoro in this situation. There is about a two inch thick mat of slop in the area I’ll be fishing.
Majority of my fishing off jetties/pier but wanting to tackle something bigger, some of jetties have fish up to 10kg off them and have ever deep water.
