I am bass fishing and starting to throw frogs. I have never used braid before. Wouldnt braid be too dark or thick? Wouldnt the fish see it better than a mono leader?
I dont know where a pic of one is. If you wanna do one, make a ponytail, split in two sections. take a little piece from the right piece (from the very back of the section) and bring it around, and add it to the left section. Take a little bit of hair from the very back of the left section, bring it around to the front, and add to the right piece. Keep alternating sides, and you get a fishtail braid!
its for your hair
1) collect hair at desired position on head or in a ponytail. Secure with an elastic band. separate ponytail into two parts.
2) Pull a narrow strand of hair out from under left part and cross it over to join right part.
3) Pull a narrow strand of hair out from under right part and cross it over to join left part.
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3, always pulling a new strand from under collected hair. Secure with an elastic band or barrette.
–check out the source =)..hope u get it right ^__^
Mono & braid are both good for fishing a jig. I don’t use braid because it has the visibility of a light bulb in a dark room. I would stick with an abrasion resistant mono. I would use 10-12 lb. for light cover jig fishing, and 14-20 lb. for the heavy cover (where the big boys stay).
May i also say, i have had great luck with a “Bass Pro Shops Pro Enticer Football Jig” with a “Berkley 3″ or 4″ Chigger Craw” trailer. My all time favorite jig color is PB & J (Peanut Butter & Jelly.). For the jig, i like both the 1/2 & 1/4 oz. sizes. For the 1/2 oz. PB & J jig, i use a 4″ Berkley Chigger Craw in pumpkin green. For the 1/4 oz. PB & J jig, i use a 3″ Berkley Chigger Craw in pumpkin green.
Happy fishing.
